This is a suggestion to help using the map and not spending ages looking through explored grids to find things you want.

When on the map screen, Squares with your villages/pits/mines are highlighted yellow.

My suggestion is for a drop down list possibly with the option to highlight discoverd things on the map. i.e you drop it down select level 2 ruins, and all the squares on the grid you have found one in are highlighted a colour of your choice. Then for example you want to see mines at the same time, you click Stone mines, select green maybe and the map shows you. If there are collisions; say a lvl 2 ruin and a stone mine, then the grid squares could flash the 2 colours respectivily, this would be really helpfull i think for everyone

Yeah, I was thinking for similar proposal myself, but for allies - to be shown on the map with different color.
This way I want to establish where is good to put my new town - not too far away, but still to not be on someone else's territory...

But your solution is much better/complex.
