Since ancient times, there have been stories about incredible treasures. The stories were passed down from generation to generation, but the story changed hands so many times that no one believed that the story was anything more than a fabrication. Supposedly, the treasure is guarded by generations of demons with such a monstrous army that any attempt to fight is doomed to failure. And, as each generation of warriors misses the opportunity to seize the treasure, it grows, and the number of monstrous warriors multiplies, so that each missed opportunity is a step towards even greater misery.
I was returning from a long journey. The war lasted 4 years, as war always lasts.
Of those who set out, few returned. At this time of year, dusk creeps in quickly and unpredictably.
All the warriors dismounted and began to prepare for the bivouac.
Shortly before the people fell asleep, a scout rode up at a fast gallop.
We were not alone in the forest where night had found us. We walked to the place indicated by the scout, and there, to my horror, I saw a gathering of the worst creatures from old wives' tales.
We could spend the night without sleep, or we could decide to strike, and then those who survived could sleep peacefully.
The decision was quick, we returned to the camp and woke the warriors. When we approached the monster's camp, we caught the monsters sleeping, they had previously drunk gallons of beer. I ordered a charge... However, as soon as they heard the sound of footsteps, they stood up and drew their best weapons at us. There were mostly spears made of human bones, swords and axes made of the bones of epic creatures. The tips of the arrows were laced with poison obtained by black magic. Our druids had guessed what kind of evil we would encounter and had cast protective magic on our armor, and had slowed down time with spells. Bone weapons shattered into pieces or spattered into dust when they hit our magic-protected armor. The battle lasted until the first rooster crows, thanks to the magical advantage, we exterminated them to the last, without a single victim on our side...
When we rode past the execution site in the morning, after a peaceful night filled with sleep, we were horrified by the horrible appearance of the bodies of the slain monsters and their numbers.
In the daylight we saw something that we had missed during the night's fight, a great treasure was scattered under the bodies of the monsters. A large amount of gold coins from all eras of the past, but, most importantly, the legendary black pearls, which can be used for all kinds of magical rituals, which will help us gain strength and wisdom, and equip our army to be the most powerful in the seven hills and seven valleys...
The story of our victory will be passed down from generation to generation and children will be told before bedtime how virtue defeated evil, but the most important thing is that our feat enabled peaceful sleep for hundreds and thousands of people... I dread to think what would have happened if that monstrous army had attacked some peaceful and unprotected town, what a massacre that would have been...
