Since there is plenty noob players (like myself) there are plenty stupid situations, especially when you make a quest and don't know your own power and capability.
Here I invite you to share your painful experience and to show us what to NOT do in game.
For example:
I grow rapidly, which means completing quests and receiving Army awards, pushing my rank to 5*, then here I am - not powerful enough to deal with old 5* Ruins around me. Thankfully the quest for Monster Annihilation came and allowed me to attack lower rank ruins.
This kept me busy for a little time, completing quest 1 and 2 and the time limit expired, with still quest 3 to do.
Ok, i said, I have a week to do it...
Meanwhile I was trying to collect resources for a hero - Tavern.
I found some "weak" 5* ruin somewhere in Amazon Jungle if you ask me (far away) and went for it.
This was my last long distance mission, 3 o'clock in the morning, red eyes, several beers, barely stay awake.
For the attack I need first wave with Mercs, and then main troops.
But Mercs are training in different towns and pits, so I lunched attack of more distant one with Mercenaries and joint them along the way.
Then I sent my main army and again - joint them with some healers and carriers from other towns.
Everything is set - I went to bed.
On the morning my army was gone - reports say that main army have arrived first, then the lazy mercenaries.
My rank was back down to 3* and with no more army from quests to receive.
And the active quest failed since I have not enough army to attack ruins 3*. (6 of 10 ruins done)
This was so stupid - why I didn't checked the time of attacks? Still hurts!
What's your story?

Re: Stupidest things you have ever done
This is a newbie stupid act, and depends on your definition of "stupid". Not really harmful, but I was befuddled over it for a bit of time.
Me: spying... that one has gates closed...that one is OP...that one is just a normal...oh wait, that's a GREAT one to attack! (rushes to prepare army and then attacks) Haha! I'm destined for much resources and little loss of troops!
Well, ya see, it seems that the player had protection from the ancients. Guess what happens when you don't check the ally troops tab.
Me: *yawns* well, another day, another bit of fun! Let's see how my troops did! I am sure they....they...but...um....
(I see that the enemy has about 20000 troops compared to the 350 that I attacked with, but that they somehow got those troops overnight or something)
I spent the next few days scratching my head and mumbling before I got the quest itself...
