quest does not get done

I have re-seized a pit , yet the subsequent quest is still incomplete.
If I remember right I had too a "problem" with this...
Did you just refuse the pit and then again size it?
For this quest to be completed you need to re-size the pit, this means that someone should size the pit from you and then you re-size it again from him.
