50 shades of mylands

Even as the morning dawned I caught the distant blowing of trumpets and beating of the drums, indicating that today was going to be different as something unusual had happened while i was away from my domain. Though there was no fear, i called upon the head of my explorers and what he informed me was nothing short of a surprise. Our explorers had come across a ruin that was unlike others with the volume of troops unheard of before.
..There were only tales and myths that such ruins existed, passed on through the generations by grandfathers. "The riches they hold can give tremendous power and the conquerors shall receive glory and be respected through the kingdoms of mylands".That’s what my grandfathers said. So I immediately imagined killing that ruin and gaining its legendary power. This created the spark I needed to send my messengers to my most trustworthy allies and call for their help....
"Such power could be envied my lord" I was advised "maybe we should keep it a secret for some time" the council proposed.
"No, there is no time we must act quickly"... Go on send three of my most able messengers and ask for support...
A couple of hours passed and only one of them returned... "My king we have a spy within our city ... the ruin's location has been compromised ... I tried to reach your mentor as you ordered but a great illness has come upon him and his city's gates our closed"....then he paused for a couple of seconds.... "The other two messengers are dead my king...” he said...
"What about our spies ...what do they say? Is there any movement is anyone trying to steal the riches?? To kill the monsters??""
-"no nothing yet"
-"then call for my wizard, i need the power of the scrolls"
-"yes my king"
So the wizard arrived bringing from the vault ancient scrolls that would give my troops three times their power and boost their morale... And then i was ready...
"Get me my battle armor” we march for that ruin now....
Hooded figures stood in a circle, their voices unified in ancient song. But for a ring of candles burning on the floor before a high altar, the ruin was black as night. Darkness hung like fog, profound as the words they sung, pressing in upon the hooded figures as they made their incantation.
Terrorized men fled the battle but luckily most of them remained still and untouched by the evil that stood in front of them.
"To arms men to arms" I called and the battle started
And we were victorious of course!
