The story of one old man

- Grandfather, tell me a story!
- Alright, go and get your storybook.
- No, No, not one of those, a real story!
- A real story?
- Yes, tell me about when you were a boy.
- Well, then, I shall have to take you back with me, a long way in time...
"It was my thirteenth year, when our village was attacked in the middle of the night by fearsome creatures. They weren’t human, neither a beasts and yet they killed, pillaged and roamed spreading chaos everywhere! Villagers were stiffed with terror, being slain one by one over campfire flames, in homes and in their beds, shouting to Gods for mercy…
But the Gods were daft at that day! My mother managed to hide me in the compartment under the wooden floor, between the bags of winter supplies and some rags - told me to stay quiet… I was still able to hear the screams of the villagers outside, when they rammed down the entrance door somewhere above me… There were a tiny cracks between the planks… there were a shadows above my head… there were a fight… there were a blood-coiffing rale… there were a thud of my feather's corpse on the top of wooden trap door, looking down on me with agony, but also in delight, that I’m safe… there were a bloody `rain` squeezing down over me… there were screams of my mother, which wasn’t so lucky as him for an easy death…
The grotesque continued all night…
What i witness on the next morning you’re still too young to understand and I wish you NEVER to have such a pain as I have suffered…
I have gathered as much food as I could carry – had to find a shelter… help… a living human… hope!
Then suddenly on the road appeared riders, fast as the wind, shiny, proud and glorious! It turns out they were just a scout party, patrolled in this area. It wasn’t just our village. I could see their troubled faces when I told them what happened to our villagers. The ruler of these lands needed any information possible about this new treat. It’s first time they have seen a survivor, so I had the privilege to be presented to Him!
I stayed in the castle, helping in the kitchen and the local blacksmith. I grew strong but my will to fight were even stronger! One day king’s man came back from patrol, injured but with news of their location!
That was it! Young and stupid, but with will of fire in my veins - I HAD to fight! But the king had other ideas!
- I admire your desire for vengeance, but you’re still too young to wield a weapon. I could have a better use for you! Come with me and witness your fear - stomped!
We marched! The road resonated with the march of our troops! I stood up on the supply wagon’s bench and could hear the battle songs from all around me – chasing the fear away and filling me with excitement!
Not after long we saw their lair – rigged with whatever they could steal, break or rip off during their raids.
Here they are – dirty scumbags, fighting over debris, just like dogs, unaware of our presence.
First we started sneaky fire into their so called ‘stable’ although there weren’t any ordinary horses there, but ugly beasts. The sight of those freaks, running on fire (starting small fires everywhere) were so grotesque and funny in the same time. Total chaos reigned there, when my king had turn to his army and said:
- Smells just like our chef’s cooking! Let’s finished them boys!
Surprise was on our side! We finished them quickly, when we noticed up the hill one smaller tent, just where the forest started. It was a bit different – with various charms, herbs and men sculls on the entrance…
- Guards! Come with me!
As the King followed his man into the tent, he saw a few shamans gathered into the center and then the look into their eyes – they knew their end is near, and yet they had no fear of him, but boldly looked him into his eyes as they have been victorious!
- ‘ello litl’ king! D’ ya ‘ink you ‘ave won!? Ya ’re ‘rong! We ‘re da sons of e’rth, we ‘re da st’rs on da sky, we ‘re da sand und’r ya fe’t! Ya can’t fig’t ya’r dest’ny!
- No!? – he said as he drew out his sword – Then I will die trying! But you will die first! – and they all have slashed them at once!
As their stinky corpses laid down on the floor, with the corner of my eye I have witness something strange:
- My king! – I said – Look at that!
The tent behind the shamans stood once, had a tiny cut – just for somebody to sneak out of it.
- They have been stalling us! The trail leads inside the forest! After them!
… After a week passed, one of our scouts returned. They have been following him to another monster camp, which were just preparing to leave. Then followed the camp to a massive monsters mobilizing – more than we have ever anticipated! We were doomed!

The king saw the fear were petrifying his subjects, stood up and said:
- We shall defend our lands, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills, we shall never surrender!!!
The determined expression, the power of His voice, the flame in his words – it chased the fear away.
- But we cannot fight alone – send couriers to our neighbors – it is time to turn our backs on the past if we want to have any future! It is time for action what this world have never witness before! We Shall Fight!
- Will you take me with you? – I asked him.
- Sorry, but no! Our return is unlikely and I need you to remember me – your king – and tell to your offspring what mighty king you had and how he died!
I couldn’t agree with that. I steal some unfinished armor from the blacksmith, made few corrections according my size took some weapon laying around and followed them as fast as my feet held me.
They had some advantage, but I still knew where they were going. Although, following a trail of more than 100 000 feet wasn’t a big problem.
In the distance I could hear a battle song – from all solders singing in a chore, like mantra, repeating over time:
From a battle I've come
To a battle I ride
Blazing up to the sky
Chains of fate
Hold a firey stride
I'll see you again when I die
High and mighty alone we are kings
Whirlwinds of fire we ride
Providence brought us the crown and the ring
Covered with blood and our pride
Heroes await me
My enemies ride fast
Knowing not this ride's their last
Saddle my horse as I drink my last ale
Bow string and steel will prevail
High and mighty alone we are kings
Whirlwinds of fire we ride
Providence brought us the crown and the ring
Covered with blood and our pride
Odin I await thee
Your true son am I
I hail you now as I die
I pledge you my sword and to no man I kneel
Ours is the kingdom of steel
High and mighty alone we are kings
Whirlwinds of fire we ride
Providence brought us the crown and the ring
Covered with blood and our pride
And there were I - on a cold winter's day, as I walked through the enchanted forest, I heard the sound of horses, and men at arms, I felt compelled to walk on and find the place of these sounds, and when the forest did clear I was standing on a hill before me the Armies of the Monsters - standing, waiting.

Suddenly a gust of wind came up from the North, there appeared a lone rider, holding a Sword of Steel and then from the south came another, bearing a Battle Axe!
With them came their loyal soldiers of death, followed by an Army of Mercenaries. They were few in number but the look in their eyes told all who beheld them that they would leave this day only in victory through death.
And there was a great silence...
My heart began to pound, storm clouds filled the sky with darkness, rain came, and the four winds blew with such anger that I held fast to a tree.
I watched the two riders raise their weapons into the air. Without warning, screaming their war cry they led the attack...

... Down to the battle they rode, they met the armies of Monsters with a mighty clash! I could feel the ground shake, the earth drank much blood that day. Each of the leaders was unto himself, a whirlwind of doom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Written by Demonoid
When the smoke did clear, many thousands were dead. There was much blood and gore. Their bodies lay broken and scattered across the battlefield like brown leaves blown by the wind. And I saw the two ride together to the top of the hill, while below them the soldiers assembled swear allegiance to them.
And they spoke the words of the Warrior's Prayer.
GODS OF WAR I CALL YOU, MY SWORD IS BY MY SIDE.
I SEEK A LIFE OF HONOR, FREE FROM ALL FALSE PRIDE.
I WILL CRACK THE WHIP WITH A BOLD MIGHTY HAIL.
COVER ME WITH DEATH IF I SHOULD EVER FAIL.
GLORY, MAJESTY, UNITY… HAIL, HAIL, HAIL.
And as I stood and looked on, I heard the Armies hail them without end, and their voices of victory carried long and far throughout the land!"
- Well, that's it, did you like the story?
- Yeah, it was great!
- Oh good, I'm glad. Now off to bed with you.
- Grandfather?
- Yes?
- Who were those two men?
- Who were they?
THEY WERE Saurons and SkyPrince!
Thanks for our clan-mate Murrlo, who found the arch-ruin.
