Beware of the hidden costs of upgrading units!

I thought some of the newer or lower ranked players should be aware of this...
I recently changed my science study from domain to upgrading warriors, having some 183,000 points and only needing 30k for the upgrade I was committed to it even when advised that I would lose 'some' points by changing oh well I thought I'll still have a 100k at least.. WRONG by changing I lost 153k study points.. over a weeks worth of study... Now that is not only unfair but is primarily designed to get you to buy BG
But wait it gets worse... Having the warrior upgrade complete I then went to upgrade the units and here's the statistics required...
Corn 18,376
Iron 68,910
Idle workers 45,940
In my capital I have a pop of nearly 6k, and its overcrowded it has only 2,400 idle workers.... How big a city would you need to have nearly 46 thousand people idle? Lets not even consider how much 69,000 iron is going to cost..
Anyone else here think this game is getting very very suspicious?
