My Lands: Black Gem Hunting

So just made my second city, I've split my army so I can continue robbing resources to prop up my capitals expansion but also I have a small detachment able to launch two attacks at a time from my second city so it can pay for some of its own development. However setting up the infastructure of a city is of course an expensive thing to do, so I have been massively supporting the infastructure devolpment in the second city by sending resources from my capital.

This of couse has a detrimental effect on the ongoing devlopment of my capital so I suppose what I would like your thoughts/advice on is to what extent do you support your additional cities with resource drops from you older cities? I'm thinking of supporting the growth of my second city until I have all the obstacles terraformed (should be tommorrow which would be 3 days of support total). My secondary city also has its own marketplace and merchants guild to balance its resources and obtain resources it needs and by the end of the third day it will also have a counterspys guild and be ready to start devloping its own villages and of course place a mirror.

edit - I still have the support of the ancients in my first city and will do until spetember so I'm not particularly fussed atm about army (though I will be once i start to develop the villages in my second city and have to leave its gate open)

My own second city was only founded ten minutes ago, but my plan is to get passive defensive structures in place as soon as possible. That way I can leave the gate open and not worry whilst I'm laying down the basic infrastructure - nobody's going to attack for the piddling amount of resources present if they are losing 60-100 troops each time. Once the basic infrastructure is in place, and it's starting to demand more and more resources to build things, I'll switch to giving it an army of its own.

I've deliberately not built every type of troop barracks in the capital. The long-term plan for these satellite towns is the same. To provide armies of a specific mix of units depending on the terrain and the local requirements, so that the cities can compliment one another's forces rather than just be clones of one another.

I have done it in a similar way, although the capital gets every troop type. The Mountain has double the number of Airborne, and no Warrior training buildings. The Forest has double the Archers, and no Cavalry.

just a question but the citys that have bonuses and negatives to troops how about having double of the counter unit of the unit type that gets a bonus from the land as most people who would attack it would use the unit that gains a bonus right ?

True that your capital should always be able to produce every unit since it usually doesnt get any negative bonuses unless moved, I myself have 2 small cities aswell as my capital but my plan is to use my capital as my army HQ and my 2 smaller satellite cities to improve my research and resource production and their gates shall remain closed until I start building up an defensive army for them although they will open from time to time to transport resources to my capital although it means I wont be using the villages in these domains till they have a army to protect them and a temple, resurrection building, fortifications and towers each aswell

With regards to defense, the consensus seems to be two Magic Towers and a huge group of Mercenaries. They are going to die quickly in a fight, but the idea seems to be that the huge damage amount will deter attacks. Kind of the ML equivalent to a nuclear deterrent.
