The resource transfer panel allows you to assign resources from one city to send to another. It is ideal for bootstrapping development of one village, or creating a feeder structure where different villages specialise in different resources for use by the whole empire.
The system automatically assigns the number of traders according to the total number of resources you wish to send. Every 3k of resources added, automatically assigns another trader to carry them. So, 3000 resources require one trader, 3001 resources require two traders, 6001 resources require three traders, and so on.
Resources are assigned either by clicking and dragging a slider, or using arrows to add / subtract one resource of each type from the total.
The problem comes if you have a lot, and wish to only transfer a little. Say for example, you have 260,000 wood, and wish to transfer 4,500 wood to another village. The slider is very hit and miss with such small percentages, and you have to get it as close as you can, then spend two to three full minutes with the cursor held down over the arrow, moving resources individually, as you get from the closest the slider gets you (7312 wood in this example) to the point you actually wish. If you have a complex order, with x wood, x stone, x gold, and x crop, it can take seven or eight minutes of playing around to get the actual order you would like to send, without using unnecessary traders - which could be doing something else during this time.
What I would like, is some form of keyboard shortcut, which if it exists, I have been thoroughly unable to find. This would be something like:
1. Click the arrow as normal, to add/subtract one resource at a time, as normal.
2. Hold [shift] and click the arrow to transfer ten of that resource at a time.
3. Hold [ctrl] and click the arrow to transfer one hundred of that resource at a time.
4. A text box present on the UI so you can specify an exact number of resources to send, rather than bother with the slider or arrows at all.
The same UI changes would also be of great benefit when sending armies. If you are launching twenty raid missions (or rather more than twenty if you are not exploring, trading, and transfering resources as well), keeping the minimum number of rophs (or whichever carrier your race uses) to each army is a necessity so as to maximise your take such as you don't run out of rophs at the end, and are unable to attack that last city because you won't get all of what it has on offer.
The ability to quickly select exactly how many you wish to send would be a fantastic timesaver for all 'wealth transfer' missions of both types.

Re: UI Improvements to Resource Transfer Panel
Where it says 3000 in a yellow box next to the sliders, click it. You can change it from 1 to 100 to 3000 (1 change per click). This is the units it will add/subtract when you click the arrows up or down at the top of the sliders. The slider are only useful for large amounts or transferring all. But you can easily and quickly get an exact amount by changing the units and using the up and down arrows at the end of the sliders.
