Taking an Arch Ruin - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly!

#1 Post by Gooner »

Warning, no fantasy rubbish in this account! ;)

So, you think taking an Arch Ruin is all good eh? Well, from my point of view, not quite!

The Good
The day started as any other day, checking for overnight ruins and flags….

96 messages, excellent, should be some good stuff in that lot I thought. Click through page by page, delete the dross. Hold on a moment, I see the number 7, not used to that! Wow, someone has found a level 7 ruin I think, assuming that it’s been forwarded on. Errrr, no, that’s my explorer report!!!!!

Damn, 12 hours old, bound to be gone, let’s have a look. No, still there and very close to my capital. Hmmm, someone is probably on the way already – will I undercut?

Visionaries report: no missions! Wow!

Ok, let’s take a look. I’ve seen reports on arch ruins before, clearly going to need some assistance in taking it. Who do I ask? A quick check on the calculator: no problem, I can take this down easily with everything I have to hand, no help required!

I think for a moment, 68k black gems, that’s about $700 isn’t it??? Am I really going to just give $350 to someone else (I have after all already spent much more than that on this “game”). No, I think, it’s about time you got some cash back!

Missions sent. Now the wait. 30 minutes. It’s a very long 30 minutes. 60 visionary reports later and the deed is done. Happy Days!

The Bad
I forward the battle report out to the clan and various other individuals, some congratulatory comments come back, but, also, some asking why I didn’t share it to help others with quests / premium account for 6 months, etc. Ok, I see where you’re coming from but that’s $350 we’re talking about, I’m going to spend that in the real world!

Or maybe I won’t! You see, way back when, when I started this game, I was asked a question: would you like to pay for the subscription service? At the time I thought: huh, why would I bother with that?! Damn, damn, damn! Can’t take out the cash!

The Ugly
Now I feel like an arse! Could have helped out a friend (although choosing which one would have been a nightmare in itself) and repaid some of the help I’ve been given in the past. Damn, not good. Next time, my friend, next time.

PS – Any ideas on what artefacts I buy with the 68k in gems?!

Thanks.

Apparently not! Once you make the decision (about two weeks in I believe) that's it, no turning back. The trouble is, that decision, in my view, is required way too early.

Just read the above, very interesting. What about being able to back date your subscription as an idea? Maybe a back dated subscription would also cost more, I suppose the thing to do is start again :)
